College World Series

I just finished watching Game One of the Championship Series of the CWS between the Longhorns of The University of Texas versus the Gators of The University of Florida. The burnt orange beat the bright orange 4-2 in an extremely well-played game. [For those of us procrastinating for the bar, Game 2 is tomorrow afternoon at 3 on ESPN.]

This has been a great year for college baseball. Scoring is down because they the NCAA put some restrictions on aluminum bats the players use [I only wish they would take that next step and just move to wooden bats]. But, the best thing that happened this season was that regular season games were actually televised. This was due greatly to the cancellation of the NHL season, but who besides dem Canucks up der in Canada really care about that, eh. Just kidding as I really missed the Stanley Cup playoffs this year. However, the creation of ESPNU and CSTV has been great for many like myself who enjoy the purity of the collegiate game.

I am just thankful college baseball is garnering more national attention and hope it continues.
