There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Quote of the Day - January 12
Cinnamon. It should be on tables in restaurants along with salt and pepper. Anytime someone says, "Ooh, this is so good - what's in this?" the answer invariably comes back, "cinnamon." Cinnamon. Again and again.

Hostel - movie review
Disturbing and utterly cringeworthy ... but for some reason, I actually enjoyed it. Now, I wouldn't consider myself to be a fan of the horror genre, but I occasionally like a character study film such as this. Yes, the torture was gruesome and I got the willies while watching the film, but this film could evoke an interesting philosophical debate about the motivation of the characters and the events that took place. Yes, this was a sick and twisted movie, but was fascinating in the same vein as Saw. I must state that this was not a Quentin Tarantino movie as he only produced it. If you didn't know it when you went in, it became glaringly obvious because this movie was devoid of QT's visuals and fantastic scripts. This ended up being a very simple movie where nothing surprising really happened and was made to knot up stomachs. But, the aforementioned topics of discussion that this movie (and Saw as well) creates give this a slight bump up.

Quote of the Day - January 9
You know, when they forced Khruschev out, he sat down and wrote two letters to his successor. He said - "When you get yourself into a situation you can't get out of, open the first letter, and you'll be safe. When you get yourself into another situation you can't get out of, open the second letter". Soon enough, he gets into a tight situation, and he opens the first letter. It says - "Blame it all on me". So he blames it all on the old guy, and it worked like a charm. When he got himself into a second situation, he opened the second letter. It said - "Sit down, and write two letters".
