New Top 25 from TPC after the results from Week 1 [again, any comments are those of TPC and in no way reflect anything the regular contributors to this blog think or believe]:
1. Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) - 79 points? Granted it was UNT, but it's still 79! Stoops is making statements this year, watch out come Dallas!
2. Florida Gators (1-0) - Next test should be Tennessee in 2 weeks, if not in Oxford the following
3. Southern California Men of Troy (1-0) - Travel to Lincoln, Neb to play the Huskers - that's a load as Memorial Stadium becomes the second largest city in the State on Gamedays!
4. Louisiana State Bayou Bengals (1-0) - The Tigers were smart to play MSU on a Thursday, they will need the extra days of preparation for the HOKIES
5. California Golden Bears (1-0) - Cal looked impressive against the Vols, and should make 2-0 with the Rams next, next test is 11/10 hosting SoCal, they are in the Lack 10.
6. West Virginia Mountaineers (1-0) - They are playing mid-majors but remember WVU was a mid-major when these contracts were signed, next test 2 weeks v. Maryland
7. Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0) - Travels to Vanderbilt to play an early game, before preparations start for Arkansas in 2 weeks
8. Virginia Tech Hokies (1-0) - The Hokies started a little slow, but once the emotions were put in check, they rolled, they travel to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, this might make VT a true contender
9. Texas Longhorns (1-0) - Struggled with Ark. St? TCU comes to town after impressive shutout of Baylor, Status Quo Brown better start coaching, OU is in early October
10. Penn State Nittany Lions (1-0) - We say JOE-PA you say TERNO; JOE-PA TERNO Granted FIU is no ND, but the game is in State College, PA, Possible white-out game of the week 11. Notre Dame Fightin' Irish (0-1) - The Irish were embarrassed at Home, but traveling to State College versus Joe-Pa will be tough, Weis needs to right the ship
12. Louisville Cardinals (1-0) - Play instate midmajor in MTU, then to Kentucky for a barnburner in 2 weeks
13. Clemson Tigers (1-0) - Even though they relaxed in the second half, they looked for real, next test is 9/22 @ NC St.
14. Wisconsin Badgers (1-0) - Cupcakes for a few weeks, then Iowa is the next test, Camp Randall must be excited
15. Georgia Bulldogs (1-0) - OBC comes to town, UGA should roll, but OBC is pretty good against the Dawgs
16. Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0) - Another week off for Tressell and Co, next test is @ Washington
17. Auburn Plainsmen/Tigers/War Eagles (1-0) - Off for three weeks until Florida @ Florida, well cupcakes actually
18. Texas A&M Fighting Aggies (1-0) - Fran better begin to tune up and get ready fro their Thur Night trip to SoBe and the Hurricanes
19. Nebraska Cornhuskers (1-0) - Huskernation plays host to the Men of Troy in Lincoln, this could make for some shake up in the polls
20. California - Los Angeles Golden Bruins (1-0) - Blowing out Stanford was something impressive in the early 80's, but to do it in Paol Alto helps.
21. Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0) - Have this week open then travel to play Saban in Tuscaloosa, that'll be a good one
22. Boise State Broncos (1-0) - Travel to Washington, should be a good one, this should help the Bornc's move up a spot or 2
23. Rutgers Scarlett Knights (1-0) - Host the Midshipmen - I'm all for playing the service academies
24. Texas Christian Horned Frogs (1-0) - Gary Patterson has done some magic in Ft. Worth, but not quite LT type magic this season.
25. Houston Cougars (0-1) - Coogs struggled against the Ducks, but it might have been that their eyes were hurting all day
